Are you wearing the right shoe?
Do you feel pain on your knee, back, or shin after jogging or running? Chances are that you are wearing a wrong pair of shoes.
FYI, there's 3 foot types which depend on the shape and structure of your food: overpronation, neutral, underpronation(supination).
If your food type is neutral then you are okay with any type of running shoe, but if you are overpronation and underpronation(supination), you must becareful when you select your shoes.
Those that overpronate and underpronate normally can't absorb the shock efficiently during running and in the long term, they will feel the pain on the knee, back, shin and this may discourage those individuals from running again since I believe there's no one that wish to be in pain right?
To know whether which are your foot type, you can simply check it by your old shoes, if your shoe worn out more on the lateral side of the heel, maybe you are a over pronator. If your shoe worn out more on the medial of the heel, maybe you are a supinator. If the shoe worn out evenly, then you should glad as your foot type is neutral.
Another way is to check your foot arch, normally those that over pronate have flat foot while supinate have high arch. Neutral will have normal arch, flat foot occur more on overweight individuals.
The most accurate way to know your foot type and select your shoe is going to a running specialty store and do the gait analysis, but so far I haven't know one in Malaysia, if you know, please let me know.
Well, I have finish rambling and here's the real deal for you:
http://www.therunnershigh.com/shoes/?
This website provide a very good information for runners and how to select the right shoe. The best things is their shoe database is so big so you don't need to worry you can't find your right shoe. But here's also the last advice, even if the website recommended it, don't pick the shoe if it didn't feel comfortable to you.
Recently I have start running again due to I found out that, running was not tat bad and boring when you know the proper technique and have the right shoe.
